BID Brings the Christmas Spirit to Ballymena
THE Christmas Spirit is well and truly alive in Ballymena following a packed programme of entertainment each Saturday in December, organised by Ballymena Business Improvement District (BID).
The entertainment, which included performances from local bands, Picture the Sound and Pure Blarney, has helped shoppers in Ballymena get into the festive spirit with streets in the town bustling.
Christmas Characters were roaming through the town, gifting shoppers with delicious sweet treats and the Harmony Hub was transformed into a spectacular Winter Wonderland, organised in partnership with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Mrs Claus, the Christmas Fairy Godmother, Jack Frost and Santa’s elves were all present, much to the delight of many young children and their parents.
With the addition of the Winter Lights for a second year, Ballymena really is ensuring the Christmas spirit is instilled in all those visit.
BID Manager, Alison Moore, said, “Christmas is another great time to visit Ballymena and this year especially, the atmosphere has been electric. Our retailers have really got into the Christmas spirit with some fantastic window displays throughout the town that are receiving rave reviews from visitors.
“In one of our recent Facebook competitions, we asked followers to tell us why Ballymena is the best shopping town in Northern Ireland and the range of comments we received were fantastic. With everything from the variety of independent and unique stores, the helpful and friendly staff, easy navigation and parking for disabled people and the ability to find whatever it is you are looking for, it really does confirm that Ballymena is the premier shopping destination in Northern Ireland.
“Our weekly entertainment has delighted audiences who have been able to enjoy some down time in between their shopping. The Winter Wonderland drew a big crowd into the town centre and whilst the weather wasn’t in our favour on Saturday, we still managed to attract those shoppers who braved the elements.
“Whatever you have left to buy this Christmas, you’re sure to find it in Ballymena and if it can’t be found, our retailers will try their best to get it for you. With five hours parking for only £1, we invite you to come to Ballymena and experience the spirit of Christmas for yourself.”
The Christmas entertainment will conclude on Saturday 22nd December with performances from the roving Ballymena Community Choir and the Ballymena Chamber Orchestra, who will perform from 1pm at the Harmony Hub.
